Peptides and Pentapeptides

What is a peptide and why is it beneficial to the skin?
Peptides produce different biological effects by signaling cells to perform various functions by attaching to "receptors" found on the surface of each skin cell. Think of a peptide as a key and the receptor on your skin cell as a lock. The beauty of a peptide is that it will have no effect where it is not needed (no entrance).
What is a pentapeptide and how does it benefit the skin?
A pentapeptide is formed from five peptide fragments, composed from amino acids, which are the raw materials from which skin proteins are made. Pentapeptides are among the most elaborate biologically active molecules we can use to stimulate positive changes in the skin.
