Beauty with Benefits!

Jane Iredale's "Beauty with Benefits" combines the most up-to-date colors with skin-care benefits that conventional makeup products can only envy:
Non-comedogenic, will not block pores
Virtually no allergy risk
Broad-spectrum UVB and UVA protection - SPF 20
Anti-inflammatory, helps to calm and soothe irritated skin
Very water resistant rating by an approved FDA lab
Complete coverage for skin conditions like acne, rosacea and redness following treatments like chemical peels and laser resurfacing
Contains no fillers
Composed of inert minerals that cannot support bacteria
Environmentally aware and not tested on animals
Known as The Skin Care Makeup, Jane Iredale mineral makeup is so safe and beneficial to use that it is recommended by Plastic Surgeons and Dermatologists throughout the world.
Mineral makeup from Jane Iredale is a highly-sophisticated blend of minerals and pigments which are micro-pulverized, using proprietary technology and processes to form microscopic flat crystals. These crystals overlap each other on the skin to form a filter that allows the skin to breathe and function normally while still protecting it from air-borne pollutants. The staying power of the mineral makeup is so great that it rarely needs a touch-up during the day. And because these silky-feeling mineral makeup powders are water resistant, they won't crease or smear even during the most strenuous exercise.

Free Radicals and Anti-Oxidants

The daily, total onslaught by external aggressors on each cell in the body changes oxygen molecules into free radicals, which wreak havoc in cells, damaging their walls and connective tissue. This faulty cell then replicates itself, carrying the damage in its blueprint.
Antioxidants or Free-Radical Scavengers are the best defence against this. The most well known antioxidants are Vit C and E, beta-carotene, green tea, roobios and grapeseed extract.
They work in very different ways, but essentially they mop up free radicals as they form, preventing them from doing serious damage in the body. Taking them orally via your diet or through food based supplementation, helps to neutralise the by-products of oxidation in the body. Applying them topically to your skin helps to protect the skin from environmental factors. Only 3% of what we ingest will eventually get to the skin, so it is important to help this process by feeding our skin from the outside, as well as from the inside.
The way our skin responds to aging is due, in part, to genetics. But how we treat our skin has a huge impact on the appearance of our skin. Exposure to sunlight, environmental elements such as air polution, exteme climate conditions, toxins in our food and water, and our lifestyles (high stress jobs, extreme athletics, smoking and alcohol) all contribute to the visible signs of aging developing well before their time. Using the correct highly active products for our skin type and condition, can help prevent the further breakdown of our skin, and even repair the skin in some instances. This is one reason to begin using good products on your skin at a young age. Idealy antioxidants should be applied to the skin daily beginning in the teens, as well as injesting foods or food based supplementation that contain good antioxidant properties.
Check out my website for information on the products I recommend for the skin.

o I look at your skin with a bright light and magnification to see what is going on.
Issues I address:
1. Sensitized, chronic or temporary
2. Compromised Barrier
3. Dehydration
4. Excessive Dryness
5. Acne Lesions
• Inflammatory
• Non- inflammatory

Customize a treatment plan at a level the client is comfortable with, according to the goals and limitations defined previously.
I always offer options:
o Treatments in a series for maximum benefit and prescribed home care products
o Occasional Treatments w/ prescribed home care products
o Prescribed Products for home use – no treatments
o Treatments Only & continuing to use own products; unless contraindicated. There will probably be some Products I would like to add to your regimen, and as you run out of your existing products.
Perform the treatment I feel is to be of most benefit with in these parameters.
Sometimes I do 2 combined treatments, and sometimes I use all three modalities in one visit!
Even though I do “Treatments” My clients all feel pampered and relaxed at the end, Microcurrent is VERY relaxing!
At the end of the treatment, I do a neck and shoulder massage with some Reiki and aromatherapy.
If the client wishes, I give them a complimentary Make-up application, which is always a fun thing to do! I have a full retail store as well, with Make-up and skin care products in several lines.

Mineral Make-up application lessons
Waxing: Brows, Lip, Faces, arms, legs, bikini’s

Clinical Skin Care VS Feel Good Facials
I use a scientific approach to skin care to achieve results.
My treatment protocols require a commitment from the client. Sometimes it takes a couple of months to achieve the results we want, and with regular treatments we can maintain those results. Frequency of maintenance treatments depend on severity of problem and diligence of client with prescribed home care.
MICRO-DERMABRASION:
Same concept as: Power-washing prior to painting – Primes the surface
- Sandblasts dead skin cells off the surface of the skin
- Allows better penetration of products
- Smoothes the skin
- Stimulates a slight inflammatory response, which boosts collagen production
- Mimics natural current in our body; sub sensory = no pain/discomfort
- Restores balance to skin through restoring cell function
- Stimulates production of collagen & elastin with no inflammatory stimulus
- Softens elastin so it is more pliable
- Increases tensile strength of the skin
- Produces a natural ‘Lift’; It tightens the muscles under the skin & the skin
- MANSARD BIO VISAGE does not over stimulate, therefore does not degrade tissue over time. Improvement is cumulative.
- Good for :
- Tissue healing
- Dehydration of the skin – increases hydration by 265%
- Toning the skin – decreases depth of scars, flattens fine lines
- Deep cleansing – removes debris on a cellular level
- Restoring the natural glow to the skin
- Restoring suppleness
- Decreasing pigmentation
CHEMICAL PEELS:
Works on the top three layers of the epidermis – deeper than MicroDerm - Increases cell turnover at a deeper level
- Good For:
- Tissue Congestion
- Inflammatory acne
- Non- Inflammatory acne
- Hyperpigmentation – Sun spots, age spots, acne spots
- Rough skin
- Maturing skin
Feel Good Facials:
Use products only:
- cleanse, facial massage, mask with steam or hot towels, manual exfoliation using a scrub, application of serums, moisturizer
- Feels great and cleans your skin
- Does not initiate changes in your skin
- Results last for that day

Peptides and Pentapeptides
| What is a peptide and why is it beneficial to the skin? Peptides produce different biological effects by signaling cells to perform various functions by attaching to "receptors" found on the surface of each skin cell. Think of a peptide as a key and the receptor on your skin cell as a lock. The beauty of a peptide is that it will have no effect where it is not needed (no entrance). A pentapeptide is formed from five peptide fragments, composed from amino acids, which are the raw materials from which skin proteins are made. Pentapeptides are among the most elaborate biologically active molecules we can use to stimulate positive changes in the skin. |
Why use Professonal Home Care Products
Partnership of Home Care and Professional Treatments
• For the best results in facilitating changes in skin conditions, it is imperative the client understands this is a partnership.
• 70% of the changes are a direct result of Client Compliance with Home Care.
• I can do treatments every week, but if there is not good home care it is a waste of your money and my time!
Good Home Care Protocol
5 Basic steps to a good home care regimen include:
• Cleansing 2X daily (this includes masking and scrub cleansers)
• Using a nutritive Toner for skin type or condition
• Application of Treatment products for conditions
• Hydration
• Protection (Sunscreen, Moisturizer)
Cleansers
The first step towards healthy skin is proper cleansing. This step removes oily residue, dead skin cells, and waste by-products.
• The face should be cleansed at least twice daily.
• It is important to cleanse off your night treatment products so your day treatment products will be able to work & Visa-Versa.
• Cleansing skin at night removes makeup, oils, bacteria, pollens and pollutants. This when the skin repairs itself, so it is important to cleanse every evening!
Masking
Very Important, yet most forgotten Step!
Masking activates your body’s “self cleansing mechanism” through stimulating an immune response.
• To work properly it must be applied thick enough to prevent any exchange between the skin and the environment.
• This will create a “suffocation” effect causing the nerve endings to send a message to the brain that says, “help.”
• Masking will stimulate blood flow to bring oxygen, nutrients, and hydration to your skin and carries away the waste products
• This helps with acne, congested, and dehydrated skins, and large pores.
Using Scrubs
As we age, cell turnover slows down. Exfoliating skin encourages new cell growth. Historically, people used sand to physically abrade or exfoliate their skin.
• Keep your scrub in the shower and use it two to three times a week, especially after a Mask.
• Benefits of using a scrub include:
1) encourages cell turnover in lower layers of skin
2) deep cleansing & removal of excess oil
3) massages skin to improve circulation
4) polishes and softens (But do not use heavy pressure!)
5) evens skin tone
Toner
• Toner removes excess impurities, balances the skin PH and prepares it for treatment products and moisturizer.
• Provides refreshing, light hydration
• Can be spritzed throughout the day over makeup to refresh the complexion.
• Excellent for men as a soothing aftershave lotion. Leaves the skin clean and oil-free
Hydrators
• Hydrators are water-based gels that should be used twice daily to combat dehydration which is the most common skin problem.
• Just as everybody should drink water, everybody should use a Hydrating Product on their skin.
• Dehydrated skin appears dry, scaly, and flaky. It feels tight and may “crinkle” when gently pulled.
• A person with oily skin may think they have dry skin but it is really dehydrated. If they were to use products for dry skin, they would have worse problems.
**Dehydration**
Dehydration causes many skin problems and makes any existing skin condition worse for all skin types.
• When it rains in the desert, the earth is so dry it cannot absorb the water, so the rain can cause flooding. The rain will roll across the desert and fall into the cracks.
• Dehydrated skin, or “water dry” skin acts like the desert. Products cannot be absorbed by dry, dehydrated skin.
• When skin becomes dehydrated, the surface
layers of cells harden up and form a thin
covering over the surface of the skin. (Snake Skin)
• This dehydrated covering is like putting Saran Wrap on the skin – none of the wonderful ingredients can get in and none of the oil secretions can get out.
• This entrapment of oils under the surface of the skin is particularly detrimental in the case of someone with acne.
• In addition, dehydrated skin is always more sensitive or reactive.

Professional Products VS Department Store Brands?
Because these products are dispensed only by licensed skin care professionals, based upon an analysis and examination of your skin, you are assured to receive products that:
• Are more suitable for you, which costs you less, since you only buy what you need.
• Contain up to 10 times more active ingredients, which means more results.
• Have less preservatives, which means less chance for irritation.
• More natural ingredients.
You actually SAVE money because you aren’t purchasing products that won’t benefit your skin. (You know – those products collecting in your cupboard that just sit there because they don’t work for you!)
Professional Only - Clinical Skin Care
• ONLY YOURx Clinical Products begin where many over-the-counter products leave off. There are five complete product systems specifically designed for each of five DermaSolutions™ skin types
• In addition we have 2 Acne lines, a Sensitive Skin line, and an Alpha Hydroxy line
DermaprintTM Skin Analysis
Your skin care professional will conduct a thorough examination of your skin to:
• Classify your DermaPrint Skin Type
Based upon the combination of characteristics of your skin's volume and timing of oil production, follicle size and texture.
• Identify Skin Conditions
Identify and record the existence, severity and location of any of 52 DermaPrintTM Skin Conditions.
• Determine DermaPrint Skin Condition Groups
Based upon your individual Skin Conditions. When two or more skin conditions coexist, they may require a different solution than when each is present by itself, including changes to product ingredients and use, or to the number, schedule and types of treatments.
• Evaluate Your Lifestyle, Environmental and Genetic Factors, Sensitivities, Allergies and Skin Care Experiences
Assures that all ingredients, products and treatments will be further personalized to work in conjunction with these factors
Custom Blended Skin Care
What Custom-Blended Skin Care means to you:
Maximum Results
Studies show that Custom-Blended skin care may be up to 400% more effective than traditional off-the-shelf skin care products.
Why?
• Since a Custom-Blended product is made on-the-spot it has never sat on the shelf, losing its potency. Off-the-shelf items were made months or possibly even years before you finally buy them.
• In addition, since its shelf life will be only as long as it takes you to use it, your Custom-Blended product will contain the highest level of active ingredients and the lowest practical level of preservatives.
• And since it is made only for YOU – it will contain only those active ingredients that YOU need, only those active ingredients that will benefit YOU – only those ingredients that will deliver results for YOU.
Your product will be only yours (ONLY YOURx) and no one else's.
"Professional Only" products cannot be purchased online, on the TV, via home sales, or at beauty supply outlets.

Welcome note
Thank-you for visiting my blog for Clear Complexions, Bend, OR!
My name is Rachel and I am a retired Registered Nurse of 20+ years, and now a practicing Clinical Esthetician. The signature treatment I do is a French Micro-Current treatment that is considered a Non-Surgical Face Lift. It is the most incredible treatment I have ever received and I love performing it on my clients! I use the current to correct aging skin through increasing cellular energy, oxygen uptake, balancing skin function and firming the skin and tightening the muscles of the face. It works for dry, oily and dehydrated skin. It heals acne and decreases the depth of scars on the skin. I use it in conjunction with Micro-Dermabrasion with fantastic results. I have many clients who travel and have friends across the country that they want to know locarions of other Estheticians that use the Mansard MicroCurrent. If any of you are out there that use this machine, please post on this blog so we can start a network!
